2024 STOREFRONT SECURITY AND
EMERGENCY RESPONSE REPORT
While retailers are busy navigating areas like inventory, pricing, signage, and staffing, there’s another key area that can suck a lot of their attention: security.
Riots, vandalism, looting, and even natural disasters pose unprecedented threats to retailers. Our survey found that 83 percent of retailers experience break-ins or break-in attempts every year. Attempting to solve this issue can become incredibly costly; one retailer indicated spending $1.5 million on security guards alone.
With the upcoming election year, retailers must be even more vigilant to prepare for potential rioting and looting caused by political unrest. Too many retailers have experienced firsthand how the business they’ve worked so hard to build can be destroyed in an instant.
So, what can be done?
In partnership with Loss Prevention Magazine, we asked retail leaders across the country to find out.
